Happy new week friends! It’s Keiko from Happy Tree Studio here today and I have this sunset scene card to share with you! This is A7 (5″ x 7″) card made with ink blended background and black die cuts.

The background is made from 5″ x 7″ piece of watercolor card stock. I first masked off the sky portion and inked the ocean. When ink was dry, I masked off the ocean and the sun (I used the circle mask included in the Circle Spotlight Stencils) and inked the sky. Then, using the coordinating circle stencil, I inked the sun. The clouds were die cut from watercolor card stock using Beach Scene A7 Coverplate die and inked. You can use your favorite colors of inks to make this card, but here are the colors I used (I used mixture of Distress Inks and Distress Oxide Inks simply because I only have limited numbers of colors):
Ocean: Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Curved Pumpkin, Mermaid Lagoon
Clouds: Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick
Sky & sun: Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Candied Apple
TIP: For ink blending, I used blending brush for the clouds (I wanted the ink to be soft) and finger dubbers for sky and ocean.

I cut out a ground piece from black card stock and adhered it on the background. I then glued the clouds and white heat embossed the sentiment from Hello Summer set. To add some sparkle to the water, I used Ocean Scene Builder Background stencil and added white pigment ink first and then applied some Star Dust Stickles on top.

Now onto all the black die cut elements! It is fun to go through your collections of dies (or even coordinating dies) to find the ones that work for the scene. Here are the ones I used for this card:
Little Pickup Paper Piecing die
Beach House Add-On die (palm trees, surf board, and birds)
Tropical Bouquets die (two kinds of leaves)

After die cutting all the pieces, you can arrange them on the beautiful background you created and the card is done!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
Have a wonderful week everyone!
