Sandy Shores Shakers… try to say that quickly three times! What a tongue twister. 🙂 It’s Bobbi Lemanski here flipping out with these new flip flop stamps and dies. I just received these awesome new Hello Summer Release sets by Honey Bee Stamps and could not wait to design with them. They are all available to purchase at Honey Bee Stamps online. Today, I’m using the following products on both of these sand-filled cards:

Flippin’ Fabulous stamp and die sets

Flip Flop Builder Honey Cuts Dies

Tropical Bouquets Honey Cuts Dies

Slimline Sentiments Eyelet Honey Cuts

Here’s a quick look at the cards in action…

Card 1: Sandy Shores Shaker

For my first card, I wanted it to look like the flip flops were walking on the sand so I used actual brown sand inside the shaker. Adorable bits were added to the sand to give it a little sparkle. The Honey Bee Stamps store has so many cute bits right now. I’ve shared some of my faves below. I used the following additional Hello Summer release products to make this card:

Sandy Shores Background Stamp (for the background)

Beach Vibes Pattern Paper Pad (for the flip flop straps)

Hot Tropics Pattern Paper Pad (for the flip flop platform)

Here’s some tips to making this card:

The sandy background for this shaker box was stamped using Memento Toffee Crunch (a carmel-brown color) ink on a 3-1/3″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall piece of sand-colored cardstock using the Sandy Shores Background Stamp. I stamped the phrases and seashells from Flippin’ Fabulous stamp set and outlined the words using a Copic W4 and W2 to make them appear like they were written in the sand. Seashells were given shadows and colored in with pale oranges to match the flip flops.

To make the dimensional shaker “box,” I layered (1) a 4mm black foam cut using the Slimline Sentiments Eyelet die, (2) a 3-1/2″ X 8-1/2″ clear acetate sheet (cut slightly smaller) and (3) another eyelet frame cut from a blue cardstock and adhered them all together in that order using 1/8″ wide double sided Scor-Tape. This box is then adhered to the 3-1/2″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall background piece. Make sure the sand and bits are laying on top of the background piece before you adhere them together! Next, the entire box is adhered to a card base cut from cardstock measuring 7″ wide X 8-1/2″ tall and scored at 3-1/2″ from the 7″ side to create a finished base 3-1/2″ tall by 8-1/2″ wide card.

I added the following cute sparkles and bits to the sand. These are some of my faves: Tiki Hut Sequin Mix, North Star Clay Bits, Melon Ball Sequin Mix, Cashmere Confetti Mix, Hot Tropics Sequin Mix, Beach Vibes Sequin Mix. I also love Vitamin Sea and Lemon Drop Sequin Mix which were used in Card 2 below.

Next, I added the flip flops, sea shells and tropical greenery to the front of the card, over the shaker box. I also added some Cashmere Confetti Mix for added sparkle in a shell color around the seashells. These make it so pretty and sparkly! The flip flops were die cut from pattern paper from the Hot Tropics paper pad and 4mm black craft foam (makes realistic-looking soft soles). The sandal straps were die cut from pattern paper from the Beach Vibes pad.

Before I attached the card base, I did add some stamping inside, using phrases and images from the Flippin’ Fabulous stamp set. I love when a card has a coordinating inside, don’t you?! This card fits inside a business-sized envelope.

Card 2: Water Shores Shaker

For my second card, I wanted to convey the feeling of walking in water in your flip flops. You know when you walk along the shore and the rippling water flows over the tops of your toes and flops? Yep, that’s what I was going for on this one. I used these additional new release products to make this card:

Fineapple stamp and die sets (for the pineapple inside)

Sea Breeze Stamp set (for the phrase)

Pineapple Lattice Cover Plate Top Die (for the flip flop platform)

Pineapple Lattice Cover Plate Base Die (for the flip flop platform)

This card follows the same creative and assembly process as card 1 with a few minor changes.

  • I hand drew rounded shapes using a Copic B02 on blue cardstock for the watery looking shaker background.
  • I used blue craft sand I bought at Michaels for the “water” inside the shaker. For the bits, I used this cute little fishy mix called, Vitamin Sea. Do you see the little fish in the water? They are adorable bits!
  • I used a dark green cardstock offset just a bit to create a shadow for the flip flop sole (versus craft foam).
  • The Pineapple Cover Plates were used to create the fun platform design on the sandal. You could use pattern paper, too.
  • For the sandal straps, I added sparkle using the Lemon Drop Sequin Mix. How cute are those lemons?!

Before I attached the card base, I did add some stamping inside, plus a few pieces and images I had colored up. The phrase is from the Flippin’ Fabulous stamp set.
