Hi Bee friends. It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with two quick cards for the the new year. One of my new year’s resolutions is to send more cards filled with wishes of happiness and words of gratitude in the new year. To do that, I need more cards ready to go in my card box. Birthday greetings and thank you cards are two types of cards I use more often than any others through the year. I keep a selection of them handy to pull from when I need one. If I have a card ready to go, I am definitely more likely to send it!

Both cards are quick to make, require very little layering, and use many of the same stamps and dies for easy clean up. I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:

You Buzzword stamp set and coordinating die set

New Year Cheers stamp set

Inside Sentiments: Kindness stamp set

Geometric Background Stencil

Maliblue Confetti Mix

The featured cards are made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panels. All of the stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink.

Bright Birthday Card

My first 5″ X 7″ card uses seven images from the New Year Cheers stamp set. While this set was designed for the new year holiday, it is a great set for making birthday cards, too. In a 3 X 3 grid layout, I added seven of the images to the card front, leaving the center open for the phrase.

I stamped all of the images and the “happy birthday to” phrase at one time using the MISTI tool, saving me lot of stamping time. This is a great tool for stamping multiple images on multiple cards. (The “you” stamp in the center was used for positioning, only.) I used the Bee Creative Intense Black Ink for the images. The images come out sharp and black! I love this ink. 🙂

I die cut the “you” word layers (black for the shadow and white for the top layer.) I added a rainbow stripe of colors (colors listed below) to the white cardstock using Copics, before die cutting the word. I used Bee Creative Precision Glue to attach the word layers together and added the layered die cut right below the birthday phrase.

I colored all of the images using Copics that matched the “You” word in the middle. Colors used: B05, B01, B00, V09, V04, V00, G00, G000, Y19, Y17, Y13, YR07, YR00, R29, R27, R17, R14, E55, E50, YR31. All of the images were shadowed using a C3 and C1 Copic Marker. This makes them stand out even more.

I also added some Maliblue Confetti Mix sequins to the front for added color. If you are mailing this card and want to avoid extra postage costs, mail without the sequins.

Inside the card, I stamped the champagne glass, the word CHEERS and a phrase from the stamp set, Inside Sentiments: Birthday to finish the card. This card is ready for a family birthday coming up next week!

Thank You Confetti Card

For this 5″ X 7″ thank you card, I used the Geometric Background Stencil, a Detail Blender Brush and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink to create the design around the borders of the card’s front panel.

I stamped the confetti image and balloon string several times at the top and the “throw kindness…” phrase on the lower front, allowing room for the 3-layer YOU die cut to be adhered between the stamped parts. I added lines of color to the YOU letters and the stamped confetti using the same Copic colors shared in the first card.

Inside the card, I stamped a phrase from the set, Inside Sentiments: Kindness stamp set and stamped the confetti above it to complete the card.
