I had THE hardest time deciding what to create with first from all the products in this release. Lately I’ve been obsessed with stencils and making backgrounds so I used the new Hexagon Patterns stencil and Diamond Patterns stencil to make some backgrounds with Distress Oxide Inks.
I only intended to make 4 cards when I started as I made 4 backgrounds – but then decided I could make a LOT more cards if I cut them apart or die cut them. So with the hexagon backgrounds I die cut one with one of Honey Bee’s Hexagon Solid Stack wafer dies, and that made 2 different card backgrounds. I then trimmed the second background with my paper trimmer and added patterned paper and strips of glitter paper.
With the Diamond Pattered backgrounds I used the new Double Stitched Diamonds Honey Cuts Dies and then trimmed the other background in the same way as the first ones.
I used the new Fluttering By stamp set and Coordinating Fluttering By Honey Cuts Dies for all the butterflies and sentiments. I did some REALLY easy colouring by just white heat embossing the butterflies onto Distress Water-colour paper and then spraying them with the Oxide Sprays. After they were dry I painted over the butterflies with Tonic’s Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer pen and then die cut them.
Since I had a couple of butterflies and sentiments left over and didn’t want them to go to waste I stencilled a couple more card bases and then added some splatter and the butterflies to finish them off.
I finished off the insides of all the cards with sentiments from the Fluttering By stamp set stamped with black ink, and then stamped some of the butterflies from the set with the same Oxide ink colors I used on the backgrounds and that was it!
You can watch my video here on how I made these cards:
