Hi there! It’s Bobbi with a fun, interactive card using new products from the Ramblin’ Man release. I made this record player card for Father’s day, but it could also be adapted for grads, music teachers or anyone that loves music. This card measures 5″ wide by 4-1/2″ tall and folds flat to fit in a 5″ X 5″ envelope.

To make this card, I started with 5″ wide strips of Neenah Solar White 110lb cardstock for the card base. The first strip measures 11″ long and is scored at 4-1/2″, 8-1/2″, and 9″. The second strip is 5″ wide X 4-1/2″ long and scored once at 1/2″ from one end. Lastly, I cut a piece measuring  5″ wide by 4″ tall for the insert. Before adhering the pieces together, I stamped and stenciled the card front and inside panels while they were still flat.

I stenciled the larger-sized music notes using the Sheet Music stencil set with black ink. I die cut two records from the Record Player Card Base Die and layered one of them with coordinating white and red circles. I stamped, embossed and die cut the “rock on” hand gesture image from the Good Mix stamp and die set and “popped it up” using white craft foam underneath to finish the card front.

For the top inside panel, I stenciled flames using the Flames Stencil and Ranger Distressed Inks in Fired Brick, Carved Pumpkin, and Mustard Seed. I stenciled a few more flames on a scrap piece of cardstock and die cut out the record label to match.  I stamped the phrase from the stamp set, For the Record in black. I used the die set to cutout the embossed, “Dad.”

For the inside, I stenciled the smaller music notes from the same Sheet Music stencil set to the turntable background. I added additional components from the Record Player die set, including adhering the second black record to the “turntable” using a black brad. This record really spins! The arm of the player was also adhered to the turntable using a black mini brad. It also can swing above the record. I used two black enamel dots for the record player controls. The Record Player die set comes with additional pieces for the control buttons, but I liked how the shiny enamel dots looked. I also added a finger pull half-circle cutout on the turntable that allows the “pull” word from the One-of-A-Kind stamp set to show when the card is opened. (The slide-out component is housed in an envelope that is adhered to the underneath of the turntable.)

Lastly, I adhered the strip elements together to create a “pop-up” box record player. I attached the 1/2″ section of the smaller strip to the top inside panel of the larger strip at the crease line and attached the bottom half to the end of the longer strip by layering the two to make a box.  An envelope was adhered to the underside of the turntable to hold the side slide-out that reveals the phrase, “Happy Father’s Day” from the stamp set, Father’s Day.

Any way you spin it, this card is full of fun surprises for your “best in the world” dad, grad or friend! Thanks for visiting!
