Hello Crafters!
Today I have a rainbow of copic colored cupcakes for you! I love rainbows and cake so honestly win-win here for me. I made a stamping faux pas and in order to cover it up I decided to color my cupcake holders to look like glitter. Everything is fixable 🙂

I stamped and masked my cupcakes so that I would have two rows. I put all the masks over the cupcakes and then another sheet over the bottom of the card before heading into the ink blending.
I used a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks above each cupcake ink blending very lightly. To create a more interesting background I used the smaller hearts from our Fluttering Hearts Stencil 2 pack to do some tone on tone inking. I added some shine by splattering on some perfect pearls while the masks were still in place.

I prefer four color blends when I color with copic markers so each of these cupcakes had four colors to create the highlights and shadows. While the colors were different each cupcake was colored the same way. I added shading where two points meet. It’s any easy rule to help you get get shadows if you’re a beginner or an expert colorist.

To create the “glitter” effect I used a series of small dots, or stippling, all over the cupcake wrappers. You’ll want to use all four colors to achieve maximum glitter effect. The tool that pulls it all together is the white gel pen. Once you’ve done the small dots all over your wrapper with each copic color do it again! Just this time with your white gel pen. This gives the appearance of light dancing off your wrappers just like real glitter!
You can watch the entire process in the video below.
Thank you guys so much for joining me!
