I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! Today I have a quick but fun card showing how to combine two of my favorite mediums.
Distress oxides are one of my favorite things to create a background with since their properties give a soft chalky finish unlike original distress oxides. Add in the oxidizing way they combine with water and they are extra fun to water color with.
You can certainly be more precise with your watercoloring but I actually prefer my backgrounds to be a bit messy. I add water all over my background and then let the water do the work. I continue to add, or drop in, color where ever I want my pigments to be the darkest. In this case directly around my floral frame.
Don’t forget to add in a few spatters of color or even some perfect pearls for some shine. This will help keep your shapes organic and less harsh. Unless you like abrupt lines. 🙂
Once it was dry I stamped my image directly on top and die cut right through it with it’s matching die. This allows me to add foam tape underneath it to create some dimension.
I colored directly over my watercoloring. This allows you to create dimension with your color and adds in the underpainting to create new and beautiful brand new colors.
