Hello friends! Happy new week! It’s Keiko from Happy Tree Studio and I have this yummy looking cake shaped card topped with various fresh fruits and whipped cream! I used one of my favorites from the new release: Birthday Cake die set. It certainly does not have to be birthday cake. I can’t wait to make wedding cake, Christmas cake or even Halloween themed cake!
I die cut the card base from cream card stock and the actual cake (sponge) part from brown card stock. To add some texture, I first stamped the dot texture with Make a Wish stamp set using brown ink, and then heat embossed the detail on top using the same stamp set and dark brown embossing powder. I also added some shading to the cake base with super light COPIC markers.
To decorate the cake, I used:
Birthday Cake die (whipped cream) I die cut three from white craft foam and added some clear glitter
Lovely Layers: Wildflowers die (leaves)
Freshly Picked stamp and die (strawberries and orange slices)
Small circle dies (grapes and blueberries)
I die cut all the fruits from colored card stock and added stamped detail to the strawberries and oranges with clear heat embossing. I then added some additional shading with COPIC markers and coated some of them with Glossy Accents. I also cut some of them into halves and quarters.
To assemble my cake, I first added the sponge portion and then added all the fruits and whipped cream. TIP: The key to a realistic looking cake is to overlap the elements. I used foam dots to pop some of them up.
The sentiments are from Birthday Wishes stamp set and I white heat embossed “Birthday” on brown card stock and die cut it with the coordinating die. “wishes” was white heat embossed on the cake. To make the sentiment stand out a bit, I die cut two additional “Birthday” and layered them.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I can’t wait to see what kind of cake you all create!!
