Hello everyone!! I hope your week is off to a great start!!

I have a birthday card to share with you today that I made for my hubby!! His birthday isn’t until April, but I knew I had to make his card using the Piece of Cake stamp set. True story…the only thing he asks for on his birthday every year is my homemade carrot cake. So I modified the sentiment to reflect that, instead of a “piece of cake”, it says “a cake”.

I began by creating the background for my cake. I stamped the balloons from Penny the Platypus onto white cardstock with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink, using masks to layer the balloons. I cut the panel with the largest of the Deckle Edge A2 Honey Cuts and colored it with Copic markers, before mounting it onto an A2 size black cardstock panel. I drew the strings in with a Copic Multi-Liner. The cake, cake stand, candle, cherry and tag, all from the Piece of Cake stamp set, were stamped onto white cardstock with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copics. (Of course, I had to color the cake like a carrot cake!!) “Love” was stamped with red ink and then all of the images were cut out using the Piece of Cake Coordinating Honey Cuts. I cut a piece of vellum to layer over the background and stamped the beginning of the sentiment at the top using Staz-On Black Ink. “And a Cake” was white heat embossed onto a strip of red cardstock (using some creative masking) and cut into a banner. All of the die-cut images were popped up with foam adhesive. Some red & white twine was used to tie the tag to the cake stand. Lastly, a sprinkling of Carousel Lights Confetti Mix completes the card.

I sure hope he likes it!! (Probably not as much as the carrot cake though…LOL!!)

Have a great week and I’ll see you next Tuesday!!!
