Hi all! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with a little bird-day humor. I made one card for today’s post and like a bird brain, I made more birds than I needed so I made a second card. 🙂 I’m using the following sets from the Honey Bee Stamps Hello Summer release:

Tropical Tweets stamp and die sets

Birds of Paradise stamp and die sets

Paradise Blooms stamp set

A few years ago my sweet sister-in-law got three cards on her birthday that said “happy bird-day.” Now, it’s a standing joke between us. I always give her a bird card. She actually loves birds, too. One of these cards has her name on it for November. 🙂

A Little Birdie Told Me…

A roll of wrapping paper I had on hand, inspired my first card. To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I stamped, colored and cut out the toucans. I colored them in solid colors with no shading. I wanted them to be very bold. I also stamped, colored, cut and attached the balloons and party hats. These accessories are from the Happy Bee Day stamp set. I used the following Copic Sketch marker colors for all the images: YR68 (orange), BG13 (aqua), YG03 and YG17 (yellow-green), Y18 (yellow), RV04 (pink) and W9 (dark gray).

The small leaves were stamped right on the aqua card front panel and colored in using the greens listed above. The phrase from the Tropical Tweets set was stamped, die cut and backed with a 4mm black craft foam to make it stand out from the busy background.

Inside the card, I added a little extra design for a coordinated look. I stamped a couple of the leaves from the Birds of Paradise stamp set and another phrase from the Tropical Tweets stamp set to complete the card.

From one Crazy Bird to Another

My next card is also a 5″ X 7″ card. I used those few extra birds to make this quick card. I paired the cockatoo bird from Birds of Paradise with the toucan. I took some liberties with my coloring on this bright bird. 🙂 I added a balloon and party hats to these colorful birds. I think they look like they are having some fun, whooping it up together. I set aside the birds to work on the background.

For the background, I simply stamped some of the beautiful big palm leaves from the Paradise Blooms stamp set and colored them in using YG17, YG03 and YG00. I added BG000 and B00 blue shading around the fronds to make them pop off the white background. I stamped the phrase from Tropical Tweets on the lower middle section of the card front. Dimensional foam tabs were added to the back of the birds before attaching to the card front.

Inside the card, I stamped a few more leaves from the Paradise Blooms set and added the phrase from the Tropical Tweets stamp set. I didn’t color in the leaves because I didn’t want any color bleed on the back of the card. Lastly, I adhered my last colored and cut toucan to the inside for some color (with no bleed.:))
