Happy Saturday! I hope you’re having an amazing weekend! I have a fun Christmas card for you today. These Gnomes have been eye balling me from my to-use pile for too long now. I had to get them inky!

It’s also been a while since I made a scene card and I couldn’t resist. I started by stamping and masking all my images. Having the masks cut before you start stamping makes it really easy to get exact placement in a stamp positioner.

Once everything was stamped I left all my images masked so I could do some ink blending. I sketched a simple hill on my masking paper and trimmed it out to crate some snowy hills. I used several shades of blue distress ink and black soot to create my sky. I wanted it to be good and dark so the snow I planned for would be easily visible.

I colored all my images with copic markers. I only used two colors to shade with. I think when you have a scene that has a lot of interesting elements you don’t even miss the more detailed coloring. Speaking of the scene after the coloring was done I made sure my background was good and dry before stamping and heat embossing my sentiment.

Once that was done I used the companion dies to cut it out. Seems strange I know but I wanted to stamp the falling snow in the background and I was worried it would render the sentiment illegible since they would both be in white heat embossing. Die cutting it out first allows me to remove the sentiment and stamp just the background with the snow. I put the sentiment back in using foam tape for some added interest.
