Good morning!! Jess here with day seven of the Annual 12 Days of Christmas event for Honey Bee Stamps! Today I’m sharing a stenciled card with a slightly moody but elegant color palette! 😉
I love red and gold at Christmas but I decided that I wanted to go a little darker today and I kinda love how it turned out! To start I blended black soot distress oxide ink onto the edges of a panel of red cardstock. I used a light hand to blend towards the center so it would fade into the red. I let the panel dry and then taped the Poinsettia Stencil over the cardstock. I used a palette knife to apply a thin layer of Nuvo Garnet Red Glimmer Paste over the stencil. While it was still wet I peeled off the stencil, used the edge of my palette knife to clean up any paste that was going over the edge of the panel, and then let it dry completely.
While that was drying I die-cut the Believe word from gold glitter cardstock and the outline from black cardstock and adhered them together. Then I stamped the rest of the sentiment onto black cardstock with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold embossing powder. I trimmed those down to thin labels. And once my panel was completely dry I adhered it to a card base and then added the sentiment.
And that’s it! It’s simple but quite striking and you could easily do this in a variety of colors using different pastes or cardstocks. I think it would be equally elegant in sapphire or emerald jewel tones with gold and black accents or a little less moody in shades of pink or teal! Thanks so much for stopping by today and make sure to come back and check out all of the 12 Days of Christmas!
