Hi Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed seeing the amazing new products that were revealed with the BEE BOLD release last week. I’ve got so many ideas and will be sharing a lot more projects using them in the coming weeks right here on the blog.
For today’s project I decided to have a little fun and make an interactive card using the Bee Hive stamp set. The hive itself is almost completely symmetrical so it worked perfectly for the spinning focal point.
I stamped out 2 hive images and a few of the bees. I colored them with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. For the front panel of the card I used the Hexagon Cover Plate Stipple Honey Cuts to add a little interest. I did apply some very pale yellow ink to the cover plate before running it through my die cut machine. That gives just a hint of shading to the stipple honeycomb texture.
Next I used one of the circle dies from the Double Stitched Circles Honey Cuts to die cut a circle in the front panel and also in the exact same position of the front of the card base itself. Before I started assembling, I stamped the sentiment from Hi Honey and some of the bee trails.
Now for the assembly. I covered the back of the front panel with foam tape. Adhered the 2 hive images back to back with a length of clear nylon thread sandwiched in between. I centered the hive within the circle and secured the thread to the foam tape. Make sure you have the thread pulled tight from top to bottom. I added this panel to the card base being careful to line up the circles. I added the bees and a scattering of sequins from the Raw Honey sequin mix.
Lastly I used some light blue ink to shade in the area behind the hive on the inside of the card. I just used the same circle die to make a stencil. And that completes this fun spinning hive card. Thanks so much for joining me today and I’ll see you next Thursday!
