Good morning! Emily here with you today sharing my new favorite technique… using Distress Oxides and Nuvo Glimmer Paste on dark card stock. Paired with some cute die cuts and a sweet greeting, it creates a really unique card!

I started with a panel of A2 charcoal gray card stock and the rainy Fall Showers stencil. I first blended Wilted Violet and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide inks with my foam blending tools, then, keeping the stencil in place, added Glimmer Paste in both Amethyst and Blue Topaz. The opaque ink layer helps to really make the colors of the Glimmer Paste pop off of the dark cardstock.

While the background was drying, I watercolored the sweet fox from Feelin’ Foxy using Zig markers. I love that foxes can be so many different colors… I thought the cool colors on this card demanded a gray and black fox. Look at his little black feet!!! So cute. I also die cut a few clouds from some vellum, then heat embossed and cut a sentiment from Sending Sunshine.

By this point my Glimmer Paste was dry, so I was able to assemble my card front. I started by determining placement of my clouds and sentiment die cuts. I wanted to hide the adhesive for the clouds behind the sentiment die cut pieces, so I adhered the sentiments to the top of the clouds, then picked them up with Press’n’Seal and added foam adhesive to the backs of the sentiments, overlapping the foam on the clouds and the sentiment. I also popped up the sweet foxy to add even more dimension.

Well, that’s it! What do you think of my discovery? I’m so excited to try it out on different colors of card stock with different colors of Glimmer Paste!! Hope you’re having an excellent Friday!

Great card. Loving the background. I. Going to do a very similar one today but I’m adding the word ‘My’ after ‘you are’ and putting a different animal in place of the fox (I really don’t like foxes at all lol) but not sure which animal yet. Anyone any ideas? Thankyou for sharing your card and thankyou for the inspiration xxx 💚 xxx
