The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and cover plate die cuts. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size. Now for the details…
To make this card, I started by die cutting and assembling three Cherry Blossom branches, a bird and a nest with three blue speckled eggs. I searched the Internet for aqua-colored birds to find one that would fit with my color scheme and found this beautiful aqua/royal blue bird with eggs of blue. Before assembling the bird, I highlighted the layers of the bird to look like the bird I saw. While my bird may not be completely realistic, I think it’s still pretty for mom!
I stamped the sentiment in black and used the coordinating die to cut it out.
The nest and eggs were cut from kraft, dark brown and aqua blue cardstock. Before assembling the nest and eggs, I splattered white and black watercolor paint over the separate nest and egg pieces by flicking my fan-shaped watercolor brush over them. The speckled eggs and branches look more realistic.
The Cherry Blossoms were cut from green cardstock (branches), a lighter green cardstock (leaves) and a light pink (blossoms). I used Copic Markers to further enhance the blossoms and leaves using colors: RV95, RV91, RV02 and RV00 for the blossoms and YG65, YG63 and YG03 for the leaves.
For the background of this A7-sized card, I used a piece of dotted blue pattern paper for the front panel and layered the Delicate Daisy base and top plates‘ die cuts, cut from white cardstock, on top. I attached the cherry blossom branches and bird using Bee Creative Precision Tip Glue and the nest and sentiment with foam tabs. To finish the look, I added pretty gem stickers in two colors of pink to the front for a sparkly accent for Mom.
