Whoo hoo we made it to the weekend ya’ll. I don’t know about you but we have gorgeous weather right now and I cannot wait for full summer to arrive.
In preparation for Father’s day coming up I have been making a lot of masculine cards how about you? My card today does lea towards the more masculine theme but with a few color swaps it would really work for any rocker in your life and I’m a big fan of anything that’s versatile.
My idea behind this card was an over the top view of a hard rocker’s desk. The record player surrounding by some fun rock stickers that they decorated with. With a little bit of masking it’s super simple to turn the smaller images into design elements that help the theme of the overall card.
I used the Flames stencil with distress inks to create the top and bottom stickers. These frame the record player nicely and add a great pop of color.
Once I had everything stamped I masked all the images so I could easily stamp the Woodgrain background over top. These type of background stamps are awesome for this because it keeps me from having to draw my own inside the tiny areas. Plus woodgrain is such a neutral background you can cover an entire card panel, add one or two elements on top, (flowers, animals, etc.) and your card is done! I chose to stamp my woodgrain in Distress Oxide ink because it covers well and cleans up super easy.
The last part but my absolute favorite is the coloring. I used Copic markers but you can use whatever medium you like. Since the card is so graphic I kept the shading to a minimum except for the record player. That received all my love and attention because it’s the main focal point of the card.
