For Day One, we are proud to have Jana Millen join us. Here are her amazing projects:

Jana here, and I am thrilled to be part of this event and to highlight the products of one of my favorite companies. I am a big fan of their designs and the people behind this company – they are amazing!

My first project is a Christmas one and features the Silent Night stamp set. I have seen other designers make oversized, long cards and I thought this was the perfect chance to try that.

A long piece of watercolor paper was used to create the background. (This card is the size of a legal sized envelope).  The background was created using liquid watercolors in blue and black. To intensify the colors, Distress Oxide inks were applied on top in places to make it a bit more solid.

The trees were stamped using Versafine Tuxedo Black ink and quickly heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Liquid watercolors were used to color in the images. The snow on the ground was hand cut and the trees were adhered with some tucked in behind and some on top of the snow. Glitter Stickles provided a little bit of sparkle along the top edge of the snow.

The greeting used the Fa La La stamp set and was heat embossed with gold embossing powder. Some final details were added — white gel pen to create snow, red Nuvo drops and Gold stickles for lights on the tree. Then the card front was adhered to a wood grain kraft cardstock top folding card base.

My second card is a sympathy card.  One of my favorite things about Honey Bee Stamps products is their word dies and for this one I used the With Sympathy dies and a sentiment from the With Sympathy stamp set.

I started by stamping three flowers from the Cosmos stamp set onto plaid patterned paper. Then I fussy cut the images. The flower centers were colored with Copic marker and then covered with glitter pen.

To create the framed base of the card I used the Deckle Edge A2 die set to die cut both patterned plaid paper and white cardstock. Foam tape was added behind the plaid piece to add some dimension. Before placing the flower, I stamped some stems on a piece of blue cardstock (the background for the card front). In some cases I had to hand draw with a thin black marker to make them long enough. After apply a little Copic marker the flowers were ready to place with layers of foam tape.

I die cut the word Sympathy from white cardstock three times using the With Sympathy die, glued then together and then covered it with glitter pen.  “And prayers” was white heat embossed on black paper using the With Sympathy Stamp set. To adhere the word a few dots of glue were applied to the place where they overlapped with the frame and some tiny foam tape was added behind the middle of the word.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Please come back tomorrow for more creative ideas on Day Two of the 12 Days of Christmas Event.
