Trapped emboss resist has been around a really long times. It’s pretty much anytime you put clear embossing powder over an area, heat set it, and ink blend over it. The possibilities are really endless, coloring, stamping, pattern paper, you get the idea. For this card I used stenciling.
I really wanted it to look like sun rays coming out from behind my rainbow but I also wanted to ink blend some blue clouds onto the background. Trapped emboss resist for the save! It keeps my sun rays from looking green by separating my stenciling.
I laid down the Radiant stencil and masked the bottom and top. The bottom was to make sure I only had half a circle and the time was to make sure I didn’t go over the edge of the stencil ha! I used mustard seed distress oxide ink to ink blend over the stencil. I cleaned off the stencil so I didn’t contaminate my Versamark ink pad then lied it back up over my stenciling. I smooshed my Versamark pad directly onto the stencil. Once that was done I removed the stencil, added my embossing powder and heat set it. Now I could go in and add salty ocean clouds right over top with no problem!
I stamped and then colored my rainbow with my copic markers. I die cut my clouds and fussy cut my rainbow to complete my card. Last I did a bit more heat embossing, this time in white on black, so my sentiment would really stand out.
