Happy Saturday friends! It’s Carly and today I wanted to share with you 3 super easy and simple ways to stretch your holiday stamps into the new year.
#1. change the color palette
Skip any colors that evoke a holiday feeling like red and green. For example, color holly leaves blue and they feel like a winter botanical. Or color the Blah Humbunny & the Season Tweetings birdies with brightly colored caps.
#2. alter the image with masking
Create a mask to omit parts of an image like turning a Santa hat into a pom-pom beanie. This technique also works well with one of my favorite “cheats” – place a piece of low-tack tape directly on the part of the stamp you want to omit. Ink, remove tape and stamp.
And wanna know another of my favorite “cheats”? This one is new and one I think I’m going to use a ton! You can color white pom-poms with Copic markers to match them perfectly to your project!
#3. add details
Use pen to add details like stripes on a hat. Tip: when planning to use Copics to color, make sure to use a Copic-friendly pen like a Copic Multiliner. And a pen is also a great way to touch up any “skipped” lines created when masking. Also consider adding sequins, buttons or bows to transform holiday images into everyday ones.
And a quick note about my finished cards…I created ink-blended snowy skies with Distress Oxide Salty Ocean ink, a spray bottle and a white pen. I created my card sentiments by pairing the adorable bitty words from the Thanks and Giving set, with layered and glossy “thanks” using the Hello Gorgeous Words.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope these simple ideas will help you stretch your holiday stamps!
