Pinks and purples, blues and greens – these are the colours that I tend to gravitate towards ALL the time. Yellows and oranges rarely reach my craft desk. I’m not sure why, but I had this realisation a few weeks ago and I have been trying to challenge myself to be more diverse with my colours. 🙂
This card was inspired by the Celebration sequin mix – I had picked out a lot of blues and whites to use for other projects so this mix had a predominantly orange feel, that screamed of summertime, and I knew I wanted to use these to make a shaker card. 🙂
I decided to use the Thanks shadow die to create the shaker, so first I ran this through my Big Shot, added acetate, layered with foam tape and put some sequins inside. To help the actual word stand out, I added black cardstock behind.
I grabbed some orange pattern paper and covered a square card blank with this fun paper, and added some pops of colour with the turquoise paper cut with a border die. I decided that I needed more touches of black to round out the design, so I added two strips of black cardstock, and also reached for the zen floral stamp set.
I white heat embossed some of the flowers from the stamp set, on black cardstock, then used my ArtQuest Stargazers paints to colour these in. These paints have a gorgeous pearlescent sheen that work best on dark cardstock. Then I fussy cut them out and adhered them to the card!
Thanks for stopping by today, and I will see you next week when we have some more projects to share! Have a great week!
