Hi Bee friends! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here with a valentine that’s for the birds… and loved ones! With the pandemic, I have a number of elderly friends that still stay close to home. It’s nice to send a little hug in the form of a card. One of my lady friends loves birds so I thought it would be fun to decorate a few houses for her valentine card. I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:

Love is in the Air stamp set and coordinating die set

Sealed with Love stamp set

Inside: Kindness Sentiment stamp set

Birdhouse A2 Card Base die set (for the rope hangers)

Loads of Love stamp set and coordinating die set (for the envelopes and balloon)

Fluttering Hearts stencil

The featured card is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink.

To make this 5″ X 7″ valentine, I started by blending Distress Oxide ink in Spun Sugar and Broken China. I added the hearts design by adding another layer of ink using the Fluttering Hearts Stencil. Next, I stamped and die cut three birdhouses from the Love is in the Air stamp set and coordinating die set. I colored each one using Copic markers in the following colors:

  • Pinks: R85, R83, R81
  • Blues: B01, B00, B000
  • Blue Greens: BG78, BG72, BG23, BG11
  • Greens: YG67, YG63, YG61 and YG03
  • Grays: C6, C4, C3, C1
  • Blue-Violets: BV13, BV11, BV00, BV000
  • Violets: V12, V01, V00

I hand drew little flowers and leaves on the birdhouses for extra detail. While I hand doodled roses on the pink birdhouse, I used flower clay bits on the green and violet houses. Playful Pansies and Summer Blooms (sold out) were used.

I added valentines greetings and envelopes to each birdhouse by hand cutting out the hearts from each birdhouse and adding the envelopes stamped and die cut from the Loads of Love stamp set and coordinating die set inside. The heart balloon is from the same set.

I attached the left and right birdhouses to the card front using Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue. The middle birdhouse was attached using Scrapbook Adhesives .25 Foam Squares in white so it would stand out a bit. I die cut three cord hangers using a die from the Birdhouse A2 Card Base die set and added it to the top of each birdhouse. Hemp Cord was strung through the hangers and secured behind the card front before attaching to the card base. A sentiment from the Sealed with Love stamp set was stamped in the lower right corner, below the birdhouses.

Inside the card, I stamped the phrase, “Sending paper hugs” from the stamp set, Inside: Kindness Sentiment stamp set. The images from the Loads of Love stamp set were used to create the design border at the bottom. This card is now ready to send to my friend, Betty for Valentine’s Day! I think she’ll enjoy looking at the birdhouses on the front.
