Hello, hello! I hope you are relaxing today and enjoying some sun! I made this card for an August birthday coming up for one of my nieces. Who wouldn’t want to relax in this super summery hammock?! I want this hammock in my backyard! I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products from its latest Sunkissed Summer release:

The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.
To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I started with making the scene that I later attached to a white A7 card base made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock. The scene backdrop was made using the Beach Break A2 Cover Plate – Honey Cut dies. There is a coordinating stencil you can use to color the design. I hand colored mine instead. However, the stencil would definitely be a quicker way to create the backdrop! For colors, I used Distress Oxide Inks in Antique Linen for the sand and Mermaid Lagoon for the water. I used my Blender Brushes to apply the base ink. I also used Copic Markers to enhance the waves and sandy ledges using E44, E43, E42 and E50. For the water I used B04, B52 and B00. White and black dots create some tiny broken seashells and pebbles in the sand.
Next, I die cut all the summer elements from white cardstock including the hammock, palm trees, book, sunglasses, flip flops, and suntan lotion. I used Copic Markers to color and enhance the layers. Here’s a list of Copic colors I used:
- Palm trees: E49, E47, E44, YG67, YG17, YG03
- Hammock with pillows: R05, YR68, YR15, Y08, BG13, BG49, W3
- Book: B93, B91, E50, E43
- Sunglasses: BG13, C4, C2
- flip flops: R14, YR68, YR14, Y08, E43
- Suntan Lotion: B41, B21, Y08, B28
I used glue to attach the layers. Once the items were glued and assembled, I attached them to the background. I used a 1/16″ thick foam dot to make the hammock and the palm tree tops standaway from the backdrop I added shading under the hammock and below the trees using a W3 Copic Marker.
I attached the A2-sized scene to the A7 white card base using double sided adhesive. I stamped the sentiment from the Rest and Relaxation – 6×6 Stamp Set to finish this summer birthday card.
