Hi there! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing some inspiration using the new Lovely Layers: Hydrangea standalone Honey Cuts die set. These gorgeous dies come with lots of different layering options, so that you can get as much dimension with tons of different techniques for adding color! I chose to create a bright white-on-white card today with a pop of beautiful cornflower blue hydrangea surrounding a sweet birthday sentiment. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by die cutting several of the individual flowers from the Lovely Layers: Hydrangea set using plain white cardstock. I then used my Copic markers in the shades listed below to add color to the individual pieces:

I love how the indentations in the dies are so detailed. When coloring over them with Copics as I’ve done here, you can see just the slightest hint of veins, almost as subtle as they would be in real life!

Once I’d finished coloring the flowers and leaves, I die cut the Quatrefoil A2 Cover Plate and coordinating base both from white cardstock, then layered them together to create a beautifully subtle and super textured tone-on-tone card base.

I arranged my colored hydrangeas on the card front, adhering them with a mixture of liquid and foam adhesive for lots of dimension, then added a greeting from Inside: Birthday Sentiments, which I stamped with black pigment ink, heat embossed with pearl embossing powder, then die cut with the coordinating Honey Cut. The final touch was to add a few sparkling Moonlight gems to add some sparkle!

Well, that’s all for my project today! I love using standalone dies almost as much as I love coloring pretty flowers… there are just so many fun techniques that you can do with them! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
