Hello crafters! Bobbi here sharing a card for the graduate. Honey Bee’s latest release, Sunkissed Summer includes cute travel sets that can be used for graduation, too. We are invited to a graduation for a young man planning to attend Purdue University in Indiana for Aerospace Engineering. His older brother is already working for Space X and he hopes to do something very similar. I thought it would be fun to use planes and travel for his graduation card. Perhaps a rocket would have been better, but I wanted to play with the latest sets!
I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:
Lovely Layers: Globe Honey Cut dies
Plane Awesome stamps and Plane Awesome coordinating Honey Cut dies
Air Traffic – Set of 2 Background 6″ X 6″ Stencils (I used the larger design of these stencils)
Road Map – Background 6″ X 6″ Stencil
The featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.
To make this 5″ X 7″ card, I stenciled the background using the Road Map – Background 6″ X 6″ Stencil and Distress Oxide Ink in Old Paper. Next, I stenciled the plane and route patterns over the top using Distress Oxide Ink in Black Soot. I added a small 1/8″ wide strip of black cardstock at the bottom of the 6″ long design for a finished edge.
I used the Lovely Layers: Globe Honey Cut dies to make the globe element. I used Distress Oxide ink in Broken China for the water on the globe and then used a Copic Marker to create the more precise land forms on the globe. I used YG17 and YG67 for a mixed green look and shadowed around the land with a Copic B02 for a darker shadow. Lastly, I stamped and die cut the phrase, “Oh the places you’ll go” using the Plane Awesome stamps and Plane Awesome coordinating Honey Cut dies. I attached it in the bottom inch of the card front. Inside, I used another phrase from the set that says, “Let the adventure begin” along with a “congratulations, ” too!
