I love finding new ways to stretch my supplies! So today I have used the Hex Cover Plate Dies to create a Christmas striped background. I dug into my hoard of cute Christmas patterned paper and coordinated some florals from the Country Blooms Stamp Set as well.
I have a super quick video attached below. If you’d rather watch on the HBS YouTube Channel click HERE!
All of the supplies used in the video are gathered in the Supply List at the end of this post.
I started out by cutting the Hex Cover Plate in white, teal, and red. I used the white border, and adhered it to another 4.25 x 5.5 sheet of teal card stock. There are many designs and patterns you could create by placing the colored card stock hexagons back into the background, but I chose to create fun Christmas stripes. I simply added a bit of liquid adhesive into each hex space and fit the cut hexagons back in with my Jewel Picker. Digging into my hoard of beautiful Christmas pattered paper 🙂 I chose a couple of patterns that coordinated with my color choices and the florals.
I stamped one of the floral clusters from the Country Blooms Stamp Set onto Neenah Solar White card stock. Choosing coordinating colors, I colored the images with Copic Markers. The Merry and Bright Honey Cuts dies were used to cut black card stock. While still in the paper, I covered the die cuts with Clear Wink of Stella. The cute Ampersand is in a separate die set, appropriately named Ampersand Honey Cuts. I added a bit of sparkle by adhering several Wedding Ring flat backed jewels, and that’s it… A fun Christmas Card, using many of my everyday Honey Bee Stamps supplies!
