Masked and Messy Watercolor
Hello Honey Bee Friends!!
Today I’m sharing a simple fall card, but this technique can be used for any occasion. I began by using the Honey Cuts Stitched Frames Dies to create an embossed area for my greeting. I chose a die that would hang off of the sides, but leave the perfect area to highlight the stamped greeting. I dry embossed the rectangle by using my die cut machine and rubber embossing mats.
I stamped the Large Thanks in Nuvo Clear Mark Ink and covered it with Antique Gold Embossing Powder. After heat setting the Thanks greeting and making sure it was nice and dry, so not to smear it, I masked the whole embossed area with masking tape. I stamped the leaves from the Bushel And A Peck Stamp Set in lots of fall Distress Ink colors. I smooshed the ink pads onto my work surface and used the ink and a wet paintbrush to do some very simple and messy watercolor. After everything was dry, I ink blended a small bit of Fossilized Amber Distress Ink. I started darker at the masked area and worked it out to white for a faded gradient look.
I trimmed the sides only of the painted panel and adhered it onto a top folding card base with foam tape. Using a small amount of Nuvo Liquid Adhesive, I adhered the beautiful Pumpkin Patch Sequin Mix around the greeting. This mix contains many beautiful sequins as well as jewels and seed beads. I added some of the amber jewels into the center of the sequins.
I love the simplicity of this technique and design. It would easy to use this look for any holiday or occasion, and a great way to use some of your small stamps!
Have a great week!
