Good morning! Emily here with you today to share a project using some of the new dies from the United We Flourish collaboration, as well as the ever-popular Zen Bouquet. Let’s get started on the details!
I started by heat embossing the main image from Zen Bouquet onto an A2 panel of Bristol card stock using silver embossing powder. Next, I covered the embossed panel in Distress Oxide Inks in shades of Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, and Worn Lipstick by taking the pad and swiping it directly onto the paper, then using a paper towel to blend the colors and wipe away the excess ink left on the embossed image.
After I had gotten a sufficient amount of color on the paper, I decided to accentuate the beautiful detail of the embossed image from Zen Bouquet by taking my wet paintbrush and dabbing it onto various flower petals, leaves, etc, then removing the color by dabbing my dry paper towel on the wet areas. This not only activated the “oxide” effect that these inks can achieve, but it also lightened some of the areas of the image so that the beautiful details didn’t get lost in the ombre ink blending.
After I had finished the background, I decided to create the greeting using the new Sparkle die, then added the two sentiment strips using greetings from the Celebration stamps heat embossed in silver on charcoal card stock. The final step was to add a few Galaxy sequins.
And that’s it! This card would be so fun to recreate with a bunch of different Oxide ink color combinations… love all of the fun techniques that you can do with these versatile inks!
