Hello, everyone! It’s Cassie here, and I’m back with another bright and fun card to share with you! Lately I’ve been really into bright cards. It’s partly because summer is almost here, but also because I’ve been obsessed with the new Distress Oxide ink pads from Tim Holtz. They make a blended ink background so easy, and I can’t stop using them! Today I made two cards using them and some of my favorite Honey Bee products.

I started by cutting out two stitched rectangles from some Neenah Solar White card stock. Then I picked two colors per card to blend with. The pink/orange one uses Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade. The yellow/green one uses Fossilized Amber and Cracked Pistachio. I started with one color on the bottom, blending it to almost half way up the card, and then I came in with the second color and blended it so that it started out dark and got lighter by the top of the card. These inks blend so well together that it wasn’t difficult at all to do this.

Next I splattered the paper with water and used a paper towel t dab up the water after a couple seconds. The water reacts with the ink and creates beautiful texture and interest on the paper. I let the panels dry completely, and then I used my powder tool on them to minimize any issues with powder sticking when I heat embossed them. I stamped ‘kindness’ from the Kindness stamp set in the center of the panel. I love that you can really change the sentiment base on what you want to say with this set. I also love that it fills up so much of the card front! I stamped it in VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder over it. Then I zapped it with my heat tool and made sure it was completely melted.

To finish my sentiment I went with some of the words from the Hooray stamp set. I put ‘love’ and ‘your’ together to make the completed sentiment. I stamped them in VersaMark on a strip of black paper and heat embossed them with white embossing powder as well. This is one of my favorite ways to add a sentiment onto a card. It adds some dimension and interest, plus you can add it after the fact if you’ve forgotten your sentiment which I usually do!

I popped the ‘love your’ on with foam tape and attached my card panel to a card base. I wanted to do something that would tie in the black from the sentiment so I added some Crystal Nuvo Drops in black all over the front. And that was it for these cards! I hope you enjoyed them 🙂 Is anyone else really into the Distress Oxides? Or feeling those summer vibes? I know I am! Thanks so much for stopping by today. I’ll see you again soon with another card!
