Good morning! Emily Midgett with you today sharing some inspiration that I gleaned from one of my favorite new shows…. Outlander. I have always gotten loads of inspiration from fashion and fabrics, and the Paris episodes from Outlander are full of inspiration… color, pattern, aesthetic… and I couldn’t wait to translate one of the beautiful dresses from Versailles into a card! Let’s get started with the details!
One of my favorite outfits from the Paris episodes is a gown of chocolate brown silk with stunning pink and yellow flowers embroidered on it. I began by stamping some of the blooms from Winter Anemone on some chocolate brown card stock using white pigment ink. I then colored them using Polychromos pencils, and die cut them with the coordinating dies. I didn’t want a white outline to ruin the effect of the beautiful colors on the chocolate brown, which is why I chose to color the images on the chocolate brown card stock.
Next, I die cut a hexagon frame from the same chocolate brown card stock using the Hexagon Solid Stack dies. I also used the Hexagon Stitched Stack to create a quilted pattern on another chocolate brown A2 panel. I also stamped a greeting on strips of chocolate brown card stock from Grateful and embossed them with white embossing powder. I also die cut a coordinating “grateful” die cut from the Grateful Honey Cuts set from some buttery yellow card stock.
I adhered all of the die cuts to the quilted card front using dimensional foam adhesive, then added a few Cupcake Rhinestones.
Well, that’s all for me today! From what unexpected source will you get your next inspiration? It’s everywhere! 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a marvelous weekend!
