Hello! Today I’m sharing an inlay background card with die cuts adorned with gilding flakes using one of my favorite color combos: gold and white. Not just for the holidays, this elegant combination immediately adds “sparkle and shine” to any occasion card! Also, don’t be afraid of using only (or almost only) die cuts on a card design! There are so many fantastic dies these days that it makes it easy to create cards sans stamps!
The inlay background technique is super easy with the Sunburst A2 Cover Plate. I die cut the cover plate from smooth white cardstock and champagne glitter cardstock. With adhesive applied to the front of a top fold card base, I first adhered the Sunburst smooth white die cut frame and filled the cut outs with the glitter cardstock pieces.
On another piece of smooth white cardstock, I applied Stick It adhesive (or use another double sided adhesive sheet) to both sides of a sheet of cardstock. I die cut the Sparkle Die, Shine Die, and Ampersand Die from the cardstock, removed the backing paper from one side and applied Nuvo Radiant Gold Gilding Flakes. I carefully removed the excess gilding flakes with a Blender Brush, removed the backing from the die cut words and adhered them to the card as shown.
A sentiment from the Blah Blah Blah Stamp Set was stamped below the die cut words with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
The Pearl Shell Sequin Mix was scattered and layered throughout the design to finish the card.
