I love you like bears love honey! Card
Happy Monday fellow Crafty Bees! For today’s project I’ve paired two sweet sets to create a Valentine that’s sure to please your honey. I know I’m just full of puns this morning! I used Honey Bee Stamps “Sweet As Honey” and our NEW “Flakey Friends” set for this 5×7 greeting card.
I cut a panel of watercolor paper to 5×7 and ran it through my Cuttlebug with a honeycomb/hexagon patterned embossing folder to create a background. Next, I used my basic brown and yellow from a Crayola watercolor pallet with my waterbrush pen and created areas of light and dark hexies, blending as I went with my finger and rubbing the water and color around.
The sentiment panel was matted onto black cardstock after I inked the edges and sponged “honey” colored ink from the outside in. I stamped “I love you” from the “Flakey Friends” set, as well as “bears” (to create “bears” I had to ink just “bear” from the “beary” stamp, and then add just the “s” from another word). “Love” and “honey” came from the “Sweet as Honey” set, and I hand wrote “like.” Little bees from the “Sweet as Honey” set finished it off.
I cut watercolor paper, matted it onto black, inked and sponged the edges with a honey colored ink, and stamped little bees from “Sweet as Honey” and paw prints from “Flakey Friends.” The jar and bear parts were stamped onto patterned paper and fussy cut and layered onto my watercolor paper. I used my waterbrush pen and the Crayola watercolors to add honey dripping from the pot and under the bear and pot, and to add some shading to the bear. As a final touch, I used Liquid Glass from Close to My Heart to create the shiny sticky look of real honey on the drips and under the bear and a little on the word “honey.” I love this product from CTMH, but you can also achieve the look with Ranger’s Dimensional Adhesive, or Diamond Glaze and other such products that dry shiny and clear.
I hope you enjoyed another peek at the creative possibilities with these adorable stamp sets. This card will make a sweet Valentine, or a cute anniversary or Just Because card. My hubby already saw it when it was out drying, so I may surprise my dad with it, haha.
Have a great week everyone! Take some time to make something beautiful and to make someone’s day!
