Hello Honey Bee friends!!! Happy new year to you all!! I didn’t have a chance to use the awesome Lovely Layers: Hoosier Cabinet Honey Cuts to make a holiday card, but today I’ll show you how I turned it into a birthday card!
To make the Lovely Layers: Hoosier Cabinet into a birthday card, I thought about what elements I would want to decorate it for a birthday party. I looked through my various sets for a banner, bows, gift, cake, and flowers that would be small enough to be in scale with the size of the hoosier cabinet.
To my delight, there were plenty of sets to choose from! Here is a list of the name of the set, along with what dies I used from each.
Lovely Layers: Hoosier Cabinet Holiday Add-On: cupcake, icing, stand, and cover
Lovely Layers: Front Porch Holiday Add-On: bow (3 layering dies)
Market Cart: flag banner, flower dies
Market Cart Farm Fresh Add-On: flower pots, greenery (2 dies), flowers (1 die)
Postcard Holiday Add-On: gift
Of course, you may have other sets with dies that will work just as well as these. I die cut the Lovely Layers: Hoosier Cabinet from light pink, dark pink, and white cardstocks. The only piece that I colored with Copic markers is the mixer (inside the bottom cabinet).
All of the elements from the other die set were cut out from white cardstock. I used my Copic markers to color them in colors to coordinate with the Hoosier Cabinet.
For a fun little surprise, I tucked the mixer on a shelf behind the bottom right cabinet door. I realized that the flower pots were just a bit too large to be in scale with the Hoosier Cabinet, so I used my scissors to trim just a bit off the top of each.
I made a shaped card base by die cutting a top-folding A2 card base with the outline die of the Hoosier Cabinet. NOTE: Just be sure that the top edge of the die is just above the fold of the card base!
I stamped a sentiment inside the card from the What’s Cookin’ stamp set with black ink. (I didn’t want to put a sentiment on the outside of the card and cover up any of the cabinet!)
To add a bit of “extra” to the card, I used a white gel pen to add highlights and dots to some of the pieces. I added Crystal Glimmer Enamel Stickers to each of the door knobs on the cabinet doors.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I wish all the best for you in 2025! See you next week!
