Hello BEEautiful – Sequin Shaker Card
I am LOVING this hexagon coverplate – I think it has so many great ways to be used! Today I decided to make a shaker card, and try to give the impression of looking inside a honey hive!
I started by cutting a frame into cardstock using some rectangle dies, and then I layered this awesome hexagon cover plate die cut underneath the frame, before adding a layer of acetate underneath. All that took mere minutes, and already the card was looking so gorgeous! I reached for my Honey Jar sequins to go inside- they are a beautiful mix of golden yellows with hints of black, and some sequins even have an awesome debossed texture to it! A little foam tape to the edges of my frame and my shaker element was complete!
I thought that I would use black cardstock to coordinate with those tiny sequins, and the contrast in colour would really make the design pop! First I white heat embossed one of the cute Busy Bee images onto black card, then coloured him in with some polychromos pencils.
I have been doing some address calls on my blog recently – where I send out cards to some of my blog readers – so I decided to choose a general greeting that I could use to send to my crafty friends. The Hello honeycuts die was just perfect. I decided to die cut this from some adhesive craft foam and stick to the front of the card.
Next I took a strip of black cardstock and white heat embossed a greeting using the Hello Gorgeous stamp set. I had to do a little masking with some post it note tape in order to stamp two E’s but it was worth it in the end!
I used the shadow die from the Hello honeycuts set to trim the edge of the black strip so it nestles nicely against the word hello. Do you see the shine on that word hello? Yesterday I invested in a brand new bottle of glossy accents- Oh MAN, I can’t believe how nicely it flows. I had forgotten that it used to be so easy! I added a layer of glossy accents on top of the foam and also added some to the bees wings!
Thanks for stopping by!
