Happy Halloween Crafty Bees!  I am excited to share with you a simple idea for Halloween decor or props using the Honey Bee Stamps Brush Grunge Alpha set.  Halloween has always been my mom’s favorite holiday.  So growing up as kids (I am the oldest of 3 girls), we always had the BEST Halloween parties.  Our basement was decked out like a haunted house year round, then updated and revamped for the following year’s party.  Now that my sisters and I are older and have our own homes…we all decorate to the nines as well.  I did not bother this year with a toddler at home, but my sisters are each having parties at their place this year–complete with bloody hand towels in the bathrooms, spooky buffets of themed appetizers and drinks, and costumes “to die for.”  Bahahahaha!  When you walk past the laundry room, there needs to be a little something extra in there too–in comes my simple prop–a page from a witch’s spell book!

I typed up a spooky spell (I made up the silly poem) using Microsoft WORD and the Blackadder ITC font.  I printed the spell text on parchment paper in the landscape page layout.  I ripped down the right side of the page to mimic it having been ripped from a book, then I took a distress tool (you can also use your scissor blades) to scuff up, distress, crinkle and slightly rip the remaining three sides of the paper.  I used a sponge tool and green and brown inks to work some color in from the outside edges to further “age” the paper and give it some wear.  I even put green ink on my fingers to leave witch finger prints on the left side of the paper from “turning the page.”

Using the Brush Grunge Alpha I titled the spell “Witch’s Wash Spell” and used the little asterisk stamp throughout the edges of the page.  I kind of think it looks like tiny bugs here.  Notice also that the second time I used the “s” stamp I turned it upside down to give the title a bit more whimsy.  Attached to a little clothesline of a witch hat, striped stockings, some black lacey panties, and whatever else your heart desires, this could make a great prop for a party!  Too bad my sister’s live 15 hours away so I have to miss out on all the fun this year!  I will be dressing my little miss up as a strawberry and ordering a pizza this time around–but when she gets bigger–look out!  haha.

Enjoy your day friends!  And be careful not to read my spell out loud…or else!  😉
