Happy new week crafty friends! It’s Keiko from Happy Tree Studio today and I have a fun interactive slider card for you! When you pull the tab, it reveals these balloons are not tied to the bucket but actually held by a kitty hidden behind. How fun!

I started by stamping the images. The kitties and butterflies are from Oh My Whiskers set, and the chick is from Spring Chicks set. I colored them with my watercolor markers and added some details with colored pencils. The images were then die cut with coordinating honey cut dies. While I have my die cut machine out, I die cut other elements such as fence, grass border, and trees (trees are from Little Pickup Honey Cuts). The grass and trees were cut out of green pattern paper included in the Over the Rainbow paper pack and lightly inked on the edge. I also added woodgrain texture to the fence die cut using Woodgrain Background stamp.

Now on to the background panel. On a piece of white card stock cut to 5″x 6.75″ (it is 0.25″ shorter than the standard A2 card because we are going to add the tab that sticks out on the top), I blended some Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks and splatter some clean water and watered down inks to add texture to the sky. Then using Straight Interactive Sliders die, I die cut the slider track. If you would like to recreate this card, below is the dimensions of the base panel and tab. I cut out the 1.75″ slider track roughly 1.5″ from the left and the bottom edge of the panel. Some heavy weight white card stock was used for the tab piece (I rounded the top corners and stamp ‘PULL’ using One-of-a-kind stamp set).

Before assembling the card, I arranged all the elements to check if they work, and white heat embossed the sentiment from Here for You stamp set. ‘Hang in there’ from Purrrfect Sentiments set was stamped in pink ink and die cut with the coordinating die (I foam mounted this). I added clouds using Rainbow Wishes stencil and white pigment ink. The butterfly trails from Rainbow Wishes stamp set were stamped in blue ink.

To assemble, I first added the trees, fence and grass border. TIP: Cut the fence in two so it won’t interfere with the slider. On the back of the base panel, layer the tab piece straight and add a slider disc or piece of foam tape cut to the size and adhere the kitty with the balloons on top (I added a layer of craft foam behind the balloons too). TIP: Make sure the kitty will be hidden behind the bucket before the tab is pulled. I then added a layer of foam tape on the back of the base panel (leaving only the tab area) and adhere it to the card base (5″ x 6.75″). I added triple layer of foam tape to the back of the kitties in the bucket (only to the area that won’t interfere with the kitty on slider) and adhere it to the panel. Then add the rest of the image some with foam tape and some flat to the panel. As the final touch, I added glitter and tiny star sequins to the balloons.

Thank you so so much for stopping by. Wishing you a wonderful week!!

KEIKO
