Alice’s Gingerbread Lane Honey Cuts die set is one that is close to many of our hearts, especially Lisa, our design team leader. The Honey Cuts die set was named after Lisa’s Aunt Alice who was like a mother to Lisa. Alice lost her fight to lung cancer two years ago. Melissa, the owner of Honey Bee Stamps is donating a portion of the sales proceeds from this set to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. How wonderful is that?! In honor of Lisa’s aunt and all others battling lung cancer, I made a card and holiday gift tag using these sweet die cuts.
I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products including:
Lovely Layers: Alice’s Gingerbread Lane – Honey Cuts dies
Sprinkled with Joy stamps and coordinating Honey Cuts dies
Homemade With Love Honey Cuts dies
Limited Edition What’s Cookin’ A2 Paper Pack
For the basics… my featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue to adhere my layers together and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab. My blender brushes (large and small) are a must for ink blending color on the background like the clouds on this card. For white highlights, I use my white Gelly Roll pen. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.
Gingerbread Lane Card
To create this 5″X 7″ card, I started by die cutting the Lovely Layers: Alice’s Gingerbread Lane – Honey Cuts dies elements – three houses, two cars, and the tree layers. I used a kraft, pink, light aqua and white cardstock for the layers. I assembled the layers following the Honey Bee layer guides found on the Bee website. I used Copic Sketch markers to enhance and shadow some of the layers. Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue is perfect for adhering the layers. I used my white Gelly Roll pen to add highlights to the images when needed (e.g., peppermint arch around the front door, cherry and sprinkles on top of the roof, pretzel salt, etc.)
For the background, I blended on some clouds in the sky using Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and my large blender brushes. Next, I hand cut two levels of “snow” by hand-cutting a curved edge on both pieces. I used Copic markers in BV000, BV00, BG000 and B000 to add shadowing in the snow. I attached two of the houses, two cars, trees, some candy canes and a pretzel to the landscape. I used foam tabs behind the houses to make them stand out a bit. Once my scene was set, I added sprinkles in the sky to look like falling snow. I stamped and cut the sentiment using the Sprinkled with Joy stamps and coordinating Honey Cuts dies and attached it to the bottom right.
Gingerbread Lane Tag
I used the third house in the Lovely Layers: Alice’s Gingerbread Lane – Honey Cuts dies on a holiday gift tag. The base of the tag was hand cut to fit the house from a piece of double-sided, patterned cardstock from the Limited Edition What’s Cookin’ A2 Paper Pack. I trimmed the bottom of the tag with a 3/8″ edge strip, showing the back side of the aqua pattern.
I attached the wood cutting board from the Homemade With Love Honey Cuts dies to the tag and attached the house on top of it. I cut the cutting board from kraft cardstock and ink blended Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink around the edges for a shadow. I stamped and cut the sentiment using the Sprinkled with Joy stamps and coordinating Honey Cuts dies and attached it to the bottom and top of the tag. A little tree and pretzel and some sprinkles in the sky were added. Lastly, I hole punched the tag and added some baker’s twine string to complete it.
