Happy Botday! It’s Bobbi Lemanski here all geared up to share the nuts and bolts of this birthday card. I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products for my card today:

Build-a-Bot stamp and die sets

Gear Up stamp and die sets

Double Stitch Square die set

Square Spotlight Stencil Set

Back to Basics 6″ X 6″ Square pad

To make this birthday card, I started with a 5″ X 7″ metallic silver card front and a 5-1/4″ X 7″ white panel for the card’s back. The two will eventually will be connected to create the card base. (Note: You could simply use a 10″ X 7″ card base if you have a die cutter big enough to run a 7″ width sheet through to cut out the square in the front panel.) The Double Stitch Square die set was used to create the birthday box frame. Since this is not a frame die, I simply die cut it and then cut down the outer edges to 1/4″ width. I searched out some shaker elements in the garage. I pulled out some washers, little nails and screws and combined them with these festive colored balls from the Honey Bee Store.

I cut a square slightly larger than the shaker box out of the card front to allow it to show through. I also cut a strip down the right-hand side of the card front. I added a screw brad to the strip. The back of the brad is concealed and does not show after I glued the strip to the back panel. I used my blender brushes, the Square Spotlight Stencil and Black Soot Distressed Oxide Ink to discolor the metallic silver cardstock to resemble metal sheets. Red, blue and silver 1/8″ strips were used for the sheet metal joints. (Note: the A7 Thin Frame Die works great for cutting these quickly!) Once the back and front panels were adhered together, the robot hand was attached to the left side of the card front to use as a “hook” to keep the card front shut. The phrase, gears, gauge and springs were added to the front. I used black Nuvo drops for the black screw heads.

I used pattern paper for the inside panel and built a cute blue robot from the Build A Bot set. More phrases from Gear Up stamp set were added to the inside. I also added a bow to the birthday box.

This little partier is a bit rusty in spots. I think that makes him perfectly imperfect. There’s so many options with this set for building interesting robots.

So how a BOT that?! This card is done! You can check out all of the Honey Bee Stamps products here.
