Good morning! Emily Midgett here with you today sharing a cheerful card using my newest favorite coloring medium: Distress Oxide reinkers! I so enjoy playing with different coloring mediums, and I recently discovered that Distress Oxide reinkers make for some super fun and fabulous watercolors. I paired them with an older, but still lovely, floral stamp sets: Cosmos!

I began by stamping and heat embossing several of the Cosmos on watercolor paper using platinum embossing powder. I then used Dried Marigold, Abandoned Coral, Lucky Clover, and Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide reinkers. I use them just like regular watercolors, adding some concentrated color where the shadows would be darkest, then using a clean, damp paintbrush blended the color out. I added several layers of color to create lots of depth and dimension. I love the creamy, almost velvety effect that the Oxides have on the watercolor paper! Once dry, I die cut the flowers using the coordinating dies.

For the card base, I die cut one of the Hexagon Cover Plate dies from white card stock, then layered it on some more white card stock for a subtle tone-on-tone effect. I love adding this light pattern behind a colorful watercolored image to add a little interest to the background.

For the greeting, I die cut the Friendship die from black and white card stocks, then layered them together. I die cut one of the Banner Builder dies and stamped the rest of the greeting from Friendship stamp set using black ink. I layered them over the Cosmos bouquet using foam tape. The last step was to add some Moonlight jewels for some sparkle.
