Twenty-one? Flip the cards to find out! This interactive blackjack-inspired card can be used to celebrate a 21 year-old’s birthday, a birthday of someone who wishes they were still 21 or a person who loves to gamble in life! It’s a great card for any Las Vegas lover or card game player. I’m using the following Honey Bee Stamps products:
Lovely Layers: Playing Cards – Honey Cuts
Lovely Layers: Roll The Dice – Honey Cuts
Bee Playful Numbers – Honey Cuts
For the basics… my featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base. I used Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue for adhering my die cut layered elements together. I used my white Gelly Roll pen for white highlights. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.

For this 5″ X 7″ card, I die cut all the elements to make the three playing cards. These cards can be flipped over due to an invisible string that suspends them within the rectangular window, allowing the cards to seen on the outside and inside. All three cards have the checkered layered red and white design on one side. On the other side, there are two pip cards (2 and an 8) and one face card, the ace.

I cut a rectangle out of the green 5″ X 7″ card front, large enough to fit three playing cards inside it. I chose green to match a typical blackjack table in Vegas. I also cut a matching rectangle out of my white card base, that aligns perfectly with the card front.
The key to making the card interactive, with playing cards that flip, is using invisible fishing line taped in between the two sides of each playing card. I sandwiched the top and bottom of the lines between the card front and the card base. Here’s how the underside of the card front looks before it is attached to the card base.
TIP: If you are making an A2-sized card, you could turn it to be landscape oriented to fit three cards, or include two flipping cards versus three cards.

Notice that the second card is a “2,” leaving the recipient wondering what card #3 is. There’s still a chance for a 21 if an 8 appears next! Once the card front was adhered to the card base and the cards were fitted inside the window, I added a drink, poker chips, “Lucky” from the Lovely Layers: Roll The Dice – Honey Cuts. I also added the “21?” to the card front using the Bee Playful Numbers – Honey Cuts. Typically, a card player has a stack of poker chips and a drink at the table!

With card #3 reveal, it’s “21!” When the card is opened, the backside of the cards will show through the window.
