Hello crafty friends! It’s Keiko from Happy Tree Studio and I have something different & fun today for you all! They are faux wood slice decor pieces made with paper and some twine/strings. They can be a summery decorations in your craft space or used as gift tags!
For the wood slices, I used Lovely Layers: Slice & Stump die set and die cut the inside portion from kraft, and the trim from dark brown card stock. I then stamped the images from the new Light the Way stamp set to create two different beach scenes for each slice. Before adhering these together, I inked the edges with few shades of brown inks.
I went through my die collection to find something I can use as embellishments and found these feathers and small circles to use as “beads”. The large feather in the middle is from Lovely Layers: Lures, and the smaller ones are from Bird House A2 Card Base die set. The larger circles are from Lovely Layers: Cupcakes & More die set, and the smaller ones are from Bundle of Joy die set. I die cut second set of these circles so I can sandwich the strings in between. After inking these feathers and circles, I punched three small holes on the “wood slices”, thread through some thin brown string and tied a knot. Then I adhered “beads” on the string by sandwiching the strings and tied a feather on the end (I punched a hole on them too).
To make these faux wood beads pieces on the twine on the top, I used a hole reinforcer die in Terrific Tags die set. I die cut five of them and glue them together to make a bead (I made three for each one). I then punched a hole on the top and thread a piece of twine and threaded these faux beads before knotting the end.
To add more texture, I traced the stamped images with clear gel pen, and embossed details on the feathers with a thin gray marker. I also coated the faux beads with Glossy Accents and added some glitter to the feathers. I felt like the wood slice needed a little color, so I added some blue and pink ink splatters.
Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful week!!
