Doggone Sweet Summertime!
Hi there! It’s Bobbi with another card using the adorable Honey Bee stamp set, Puppy Love. Today, the beach has gone to the dogs! It’s officially summer and time to grab the blanket and head to the beach. For my card, I’m using the following Honey Bee products:
- Puppy Love stamp and die sets
- Friends Furever stamp and die sets
- Pinky the Pig stamp and die sets (for the drinks, only)
- Mae the Mouse stamp set (for the sunglasses, only)
- Rainbow Pinwheel Clay Bits
- Happy Go Lucky Clay Clouds
To make this 5″ X 7″ landscaped-oriented card, I started by creating a background beach scene using my Copic Sketch Markers. I like to use a combination of the E30s and the E40s for the sand. I also throw in a a few warm grays to tone down the color. Darker E shades were used for the paw prints and pebbles in the sand. I used my white gel pen for the broken seashell pieces, too. For the water, I’m a huge fan of the BG colors and used BG15, BG11 and a mix of others to create the water and sky.
I also needed to make a blanket. I wanted to use the mat from Blah, Bunny, but it was too small for two puppies (It would work great for one though!) so I just drew one and colored it in with fun summer colors. I also added some elements in the sand such as bones and a ball for beach toys for this puppy pair. To make the ball look like it’s buried a bit in the sand, I cut it off at the bottom and added shading.
I stamped, colored, and die cut the two puppies. To add the bikinis, I simply added a few strings for the top and then modified the lines of the puppy image to make the bikini bottoms. It was so simple! To finish these cuties, I added a clay cloud and a rainbow pinwheel to the bikini bottoms for total cuteness. (Have you seen all the new clay bits in the embellishments section? They are super cute!) I glued black craft foam to the back of each puppy to make them dimensional on the card front. I made a pair of sunglasses by modifying Mae the Mouse’s glasses. I did have to make the glasses smaller to fit the puppy. I added drinks from the Pinky the Pig stamp set. I think these fur sweeties turned out cute.
The phrase completes the card. I simply stamped, die cut and adhered it to the card front. Here’s another card I made using Puppy Love. Yoga, anyone?!
Thanks for visiting today! Time to head to the beach…doggone it! 🙂
