Hello crafty friends. I hope you are enjoying the new Honey Bee Stamps release, “Perfect Match.” It’s filled with loving hearts, a vintage queen, a fancy drink, a slot machine, poker chips, playing cards and more! The Perfect Match release offers fun ways to make valentines, galentines, birthday cards, and masculine cards to celebrate love. I made this female-focused card that plays off the red suits – hearts and diamonds.

I’m using the following new Honey Bee Stamps products:

Lovely Layers: Playing Cards – Honey Cuts dies

Back To Basics Gem Stickers – 210 Count

FREE-BEE pattern paper (This is a free product with qualifying purchase of $100 or more. This product will be automatically added to your cart once your total is $100 or more if still available.)

For the basics… my featured project is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue and for when I want more dimension, Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab for adhering my elements together. For white highlights, I use my white Gelly Roll pen. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.

For this 5″ X 7″ card, I started with the idea of playing off the red suits of cards, hearts and diamonds. While Valentine’s Day is typically all about hearts, sometimes diamonds make an appearance, too! I came up with this custom phrase you see on the card front.

To create the card, I die cut all the elements for the 21 blackjack hand – an ace and king of diamonds. I wanted to be able to flip to reveal the King for an interactive component of the blackjack 21 reveal. To do this, I created a folded mini card with a top score that is attached to the back of the King playing card. The outside of the mini card is on one side of the card and when you flip it up, it reveals the card’s value and suit, i.e., a king of hearts. The flip up component measures 1-1/4″ wide X 2″ long when folded at the top. The hearts, diamonds, “A,” and “K” were all cut from red cardstock and applied to a white card. The two back sides of the playing cards was cut from black cardstock and the checkered pattern and shield were cut from white cardstock.

In addition to the playing cards, I also cut the word, “Lucky” from black (1 die cut), silver glitter cardstock (1) and white cardstock (3) to make the word extra thick. I stacked the white layers under the silver layer and glued them together. Next, I glued the stacked word to the black layer, offsetting it a bit (above and to the right) for a black shadow. This gives the word extra depth to make it stand out more.

For my custom phrase, I ran an 8-1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock through my printer to print the sentiment on the base. (You could simply handwrite this phrase, too.) I positioned it so that it would be centered on the 5″ X 7″ front. I cut the white cardstock to 10″ wide X 7″ tall and scored it down the middle for a 5″ X 7″ portrait-oriented card. I attached a piece of pattern paper from the FREE BEE pack that you get with qualifying online orders of $100 or more (while supplies last). Notice that I rounded the corners of the A2 pattern paper for a softer look. The pattern paper was centered horizontally and centered vertically between the top of the card base and the sentiment.

The cards were attached to the card front as well as the “Lucky” word. I added extra hearts and diamonds in red and black and attached diamond looking gems from the Back To Basics Gem Stickers – 210 Count to the suit shapes to complete this card.
