Dashing through the snow!
Good morning! Emily here with you today to share a holiday card made with one of my favorite Honey Bee sets. I know, I know, it’s still too warm out to be thinking of holiday cards…. but the gap between now and Christmas is closing super fast, and I realized that I have exactly TWO holiday cards made. Yikes! Time to get a-moving! The Little Pickup stamp set was and is one of my absolute favorite Honey Bee sets. My husband has a fully restored ’51 Chevy 5-window pickup truck… so gorgeous. Outside of our family, I’d say that truck is his pride and joy. He recently entered in a car show and won his first prize with it, so he’s pretty over the moon about it. In honor of his victory, I decided to pull out my Little Pickup set and create a fun holiday card!
I started by stamping the truck and the presents onto a piece of watercolor paper using some Smokey Gray Versafine ink. (Love the softer look you can achieve with the lighter ink instead of the usual Onyx Black!) I clear heat embossed over it, then watercolored the whole thing with my Daniel Smith watercolors and fussy cut it out. (You could certainly use the coordinating dies, but I wanted everything to be one piece. Yeah, I am picky like that ha!) I added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the windows of the truck and set it aside to dry.
Next, I trimmed a panel of linen card stock down and stamped some random snowflakes to the panel with the same Smokey Gray Versafine ink, then clear heat embossed them. For my greeting, I die cut the Snow from Flakey Sentiments on the same white linen card stock using the coordinating dies, then stamped and embossed it with the same ink and embossing powder. I die cut a silver frame using the A2 Stitched Rectangle dies and mounted it to the linen snowflake panel using dimensional foam adhesive, then added the truck and greeting using the same foam adhesive.
I mounted the whole panel onto a full A2 sized panel of red and white striped patterned paper from my stash, then added a few of the Unicorn Rhinestones for some more sparkle, as well as a die cut silver glitter flourish from the Flakey Sentiments die collection. (Those Unicorn Rhinestones really are worth the money. So many beautiful colors!)
And that’s it! I love how much dimension this card has. So many different elements and textures, but they all work together well, I think! I hope you’re having a marvelous Friday and a fantastic weekend!
