While we love our families and spouses, we also have a need for friendships. Friends bring unique bonds into our lives. Unlike family members, we get to choose our friends! Some friends come into our lives for a short time, and others stay for a lifetime. We rely on our friends for kindness, understanding, compassion, and sometimes as our confidantes. They share in our joys and our sorrows, and are an important part of our support system. Having been a military wife, many years ago, I have friends all over the world. I thought that my days of making new friends had slowed down, but I have been fortunate to have met many new friends throughout the art community in the past couple of years. I cherish these new friendships as well.

Honey Bee has many stamp sets that celebrate the bonds of friendship. Their newest, Friendship Stamp Set, is what I will be working with today. I started with a piece of Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red cardstock. The area was prepped with an anti static powder pouch before stamping the sentiment with Versamark Ink and heat embossing it with Hero Arts White Detail Powder.

I used the dangling snowflakes, from the Jingle All The Way Stamp Set, across the top. For the last one, I used the longest dangle and stamped it twice, leaving off the snowflake portion.

I added hearts, from the Friendship Stamp Set, and the open heart, from the Mae The Mouse Stamp Set. I hand drew the bow, mimicking the stamped one on the left, using a White Gel Pen.

I cut a slightly larger piece of white cardstock to back the panel. I was out of town when I made this card so a quick run to Hobby Lobby was needed to find a piece of white sparkling cardstock. This piece is Lily White – Sugar Coated Cardstock, from Doodlebug Designs Inc. I actually cut the center out of this piece, since you won’t see it, and will use it for another project at a later date. All the layers were glued together with a Kokuyo Tape Runner.

I randomly added Rainbow Rhinestone Mix to the front using a Jewel Picker and Gina K Connect Glue. I have had this mix for quite a while but I found two similar sets that are carried in the shop. You can find them here and here.

It is hard to capture the sparkle of the cardstock in the photographs, but this card glistens like new fallen snow and the faceted rhinestones reflect the light beautifully. I loved using the snowflakes mixed in with the hearts for this card. This one layer card works well for a winter friendship card, as well as for Valentine’s Day.
