Happy Sunday my creative friends. There is nothing more majestic and beautiful than a butterfly as it gracefully flutters from one plant to another. Their frail colorful wings slowly open and close as they sit on a flower drinking nectar. It is mesmerizing! I wanted today’s card to showcase their beauty as well as their delicate nature. Let’s get started.

I stamped one of the butterfly images, from the Fluttering By Stamp Set, three times along the edge of a #110 Neenah Solar Crest folded card base. I used Ranger’s Black Archival Ink.

I used Altenew’s Summer and Winter Watercolor Markers to color them in. I used them full strength for a vibrant rich color. The colors might have blended a bit easier on watercolor paper but they still worked very well on the Neenah cardstock.

I used a T-ruler to draw a line from the top of the page to the bottom. I cut between the butterflies with a retractable x-acto knife and fussy cut around each butterfly with scissors.

The sentiment is also from the Fluttering By Stamp Set. I stamped onto Hero Arts Kiwi Cardstock, using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, and heat embossed with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder.

I cut out the sentiment using the coordinating Fluttering By Die Set. Yes…I cut right out of the middle of the piece of cardstock. I can use this piece later as a back layer for another card and you won’t even see the holes in the middle. I used a pair of scissors to cut between the “fluttering” and “by.”

I also stamped the sentiment on another piece of Kiwi cardstock. This piece was glued to the inside of the cardbase using a Kokuyo Tape Runner.

For the inside of the card, I cut the sentiment apart with a pair of scissors (no…it doesn’t harm the stamp) so that I could stamp “of you” on a separate line. I stamped a partial butterfly inside the card using Versamark Ink.

The sentiments for the front of the card were backed with Scotch Foam Tape for some added dimension.

I had a few spots of watercolor ink on the front of the card. I was able to erase some of them with a sand eraser. Those that I couldn’t erase became the prime place to glue a rhinestone! LOL I have an old set of Rainbow Rhinestones but they don’t have them in the shop right now. If you have them…use them. I found a similar set of Rhinestones in the shop that have sticky backs and will work well. I used a Jewel Picker and Hero Arts Glue to pick them up and glue them down.

I went back and added some white highlights on the butterflies with a White Gelly Pen. I love the simplicity of this card. It showcases the elegance of the butterflies and it really went together very fast.

As always, thank you for sharing a bit of your time with me today on another creative journey. You can find me on Instagram at jadanchik or on my blog at jadanchik.com.

Joyfully,
Jo Ann
