Hello friends. We all know Christmas is on the way! I hope to get to Christmas sooner with this fun little Christmas vintage bus. 🙂 This card features a number of new products from the Honey Bee Stamp’s Cozy Christmas release, a release filled with SO MANY GOODIES! I’m using the following new products:
Lovely Layers Beach Bound Holiday Add-On Honey Cuts dies
Lovely Layers: Beach Bound – Honey Cut dies (from a prior release)
Great Greetings Holiday Honey Cuts dies
Postcard – Holiday Add-On – Honey Cuts dies
For the basics… my featured project below is made from Neenah 80lb Solar White cardstock for the card base and card front panel. All of the black ink stamping was done using Honey Bee’s Bee Creative Intense Black Ink. I stamped a holiday sentiment inside that you don’t see here. I use Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Precision Glue to assemble the bus pieces. For dimension, I use Bee Creative Foam Dots With Tab to adhere my elements together. My blender brushes (large and small) are a must for ink blending color on the background, too. I used them for the sky. For white highlights, I use my white Gelly Roll pen. My card is 5″ X 7″ in size.
To create this 5″ X 7″ card, I started by die cutting the background trees using the Postcard – Holiday Add-On – Honey Cuts dies from different shades of green and white. I cut white ones to put behind the van so that the freshly cut tree on top of the van would really show up on the card and not get lost in the background. I ink-blended some blue ink on top of the card front panel for sky. I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink and my blender brushes (large and small) to do this.
I die cut all the elements of the VW bus from the Lovely Layers: Beach Bound – Honey Cut dies. I used a vintage-colored aqua and an ivory to make the bus body. I added some shading to the body using Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink and Copic Sketch Markers in E43, E43, E53 and E50. I also added some rust spots on the body using YR27, YR24 and E57. The lights were colored using Y08 and Y19. The chrome pieces were colored in C5, C3, and C1. The tires were done in black cardstock. I used a white Gelly Roll pen to add the tread marks on the tires.
I used the Lovely Layers Beach Bound Holiday Add-On Honey Cuts dies to add the holiday accents including the tree, presents, wreath, bows and ornaments. The holiday add-ons are a nice way to take a summery set and convert for the season! I did do some shading on the red bow and ribbon using Copic R89, R46 and R29. The wreath got some additional darker green dots (YG67) to make it more textural. I also colored the gifts, bows, and ornaments etc. with markers. I enhanced them with some shading and white detailing. This van is ready for the holidays!
I attached the tree to the card front, in front of the white trees so that the van would really pop. I used Creative Foam Dots With Tab to attach the van to make the van literally stand out from the card base.
I added some shading under the van and under the trees to make the ground space look more like snow. I also added snow dots to the white bottom portion for falling snow and the white background trees. I used a BV000, C3 and C1 for the snow and shading. I splattered white paint over the entire card front for falling snow. I used Dr. Ph Martens ink to do this and a white fan brush. Lastly, I die cut and assembled the “merry” sentiment using the Great Greetings Holiday Honey Cuts dies and red and white cardstock.
