It’s Bobbi here with the very sweet, but tired Blah Bunny. Easter is around the corner and this sweet Easter Bunny has been busy hiding the eggs! According to folklore, the Easter Bunny hides Easter eggs for children to find on Easter morning. The egg, an ancient symbol of new life, has been associated with festivals around the world celebrating spring. Do you know someone that is so “EGG-stra” – perhaps your dinner host, grandparent or friend – that helps make the holiday special for you and your family? This could be the perfect card to say “thank you” or simply “Happy Easter.”

This card features the following Honey Bee Stamps products:

Blah Bunny stamp and die sets

Spring Chick stamp and die sets

EGGcelent Sentiments stamp and die sets

Hill Borders die set

Blah Bunny has been busy hiding the eggs!

To create this 5″ x 7″ landscaped-oriented card, I started by splashing white paint onto green cardstock for the grassy hills and green watercolor paint to white cardstock for the background/card front. Hills were die cut. Extra “hilly” stitching lines were die cut on the hills from the same die set. I added Distressed Ink in Mowed Lawn to the hills’ rounded top edges to make them more defined. I hand drew grassy stems and clumps using Copics in YG25 and YG67. Hills were layered and attached to the white/green spotty background to create the scene.

Eggs were colored using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

For the eggs, I stamped numerous eggs – singles and trios – from the Spring Chicks set on watercolor paper and colored them using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers in bright springy colors. After I die cut them, I added W3 shading to the white border edges and white highlight marks using my white gel pen on each one. I like the border edges to disappear so I use a gray shade, similar to a shadow. The colored eggs were tucked in, i.e., “hidden” in the grassy hills as well as those cute chicks. One chick was placed inside the broken egg in the foreground.

Bunny and chicks were colored using coordinating colors in Copic Sketch Markers.

The Blah Bunny and the striped blanket were stamped, die cut and colored using Copics in colors matching the eggs. The chicks, the cracked eggs and the little chick’s hair bow were also stamped, colored and die cut. The “You’re so EGGstra” phrase was stamped in black on white cardstock and die cut. I added dimensional foam to the back of the phrase and attached it in the upper right corner. Plumeria clay flowers were added to the stems in the hills to complete the look. I like the “wildflower” look it adds to the hillside. 🙂 This card mails in an A7 envelope and would most likely require add’l postage for USPS “non-machinable surcharge” because of the dimensional phrase. Consult with your local post office for exact amount.
