Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! I feel so honored to be invited as a guest here on the blog today!! I’m sharing how I used the Country Blooms and Thanks & Giving stamp sets to create this beautiful Bible Art Journaling entry.
I started out by making sure I had a piece of cardstock behind my Bible page to make stamping easier and then stamped a couple of the floral bunches using Versafine Onyx Black Ink. This ink does bleed through the page so you can either prep your page or use the bleed through as inspiration for the backside. I used this one because I planned on doing some watercoloring and needed an ink that was waterproof.
I used my Illustrated Faith Black Eyed Pea Ink Pad to stamp the phrase “Give Thanks Always” from the Thanks and Giving set. I chose to use this ink since it’s a pigment ink that isn’t very intensely black which means it didn’t bleed through my page or cover the text that I stamped over. This ink is not waterproof so I was careful to not let any of my watercoloring touch this stamping.
You could color these images using any medium that you like but I chose to use my Derwent Inktense Pencils like watercolor and painted in the images. I used a damp brush to pick up pigment from the tip of the pencil and then filled in the florals.
These pencils are very vibrant in color and permanent once dry. I used some of my favorite colors today (Deep Rose, Red Violet, Navy Blue, Spring Green, Leaf Green, Mustard)…probably because I’m longing for Fall weather instead of the 100* plus that we are experiencing.
I love adding paint splatters to my page as a finishing detail. To do this with the Inktense Pencils I just dabbed some water on an acrylic block and then scrubbed the pencil into this to release the pigment. I could then use this just like any other type of paint and flick my brush over the page to produce these fun splatters.
I finished this entry by underlining the passage, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, and added some private journaling off camera.
