Hello friends and welcome to Party Animal Week!
If you are a fan of the Honey Bee Animal Stamps I think you are going to love this week’s posts as the Honey Bee Stamps Design Team will be spotlighting all their critters.
INSPIRATION
The idea behind my card was to create a birthday party scene where things may have gotten a bit carried away and Mae the Mouse captured a “Selfie” of the best birthday party EVER!
To make it possible to use all these animals I had to make it a slimline card. I planned this card out by gathering all my animal stamps and playing around with their arrangement on the paper until I was happy with their placement. I then figured out which ones I was going to stamp out first because those were the ones I would also have to create masks for. Can you figure out which ones I stamped first?
CARD DETAILS
I started off with a piece of watercolor paper that measured 4.5x 8.5 inches. I then stamped out Pinky the Pig and Penny the Platypus. I then masked them off and stamped out the rest of the animals on the back of the card beginning with Lily the Lamb in the center and then the No Probllama Llama followed by the Feelin Fox on the end. The other Feelin Foxy Fox was stamped onto another piece of watercolored paper as well as the Blah Bunny and Mae the Mouse. On a few other pieces of paper, I also stamped out the party hats and accessories for the party animals.
Once all the images were stamped out I then colored everything in. I used Zig Clean Color brushes and a paintbrush to blend the color out. Once the first layers were done and dry I did go back to add all the detail brush strokes with the Zig markers. Here’s a closer look at the first half of the card.
All the images that weren’t stamped onto the background were all fussy cut and inked around the edges using a black marker. I could have used the coordinating dies for each animal but I think it would have taken away a little from the scene as these images are fairly large.
I used foam tape to pop up the animals in the foreground, giving the scene some depth and dimension.
As you can see here I only used Mae the Mouse‘s head as I wanted her to appear to be the one taking the “selfie” photo. Also, proportion wise a mouse is generally smaller than all these other animals and by placing her upfront you are tricked into thinking she much closer than the rest. Speaking of Mae, I gave her some black twine whiskers as I ended up cutting them off during the fussy cutting process.
All Party Animals have party hats so of course, the Llama had the sombrero and everyone else had a colorful party hat. Since I had cut these images out by hand I just cut off the pompom to make cutting easier and added a crystal jewel instead as a way to embellish them. I also used a white gel pen to add highlights to their cheeks and glossy accents to their noses and eyes.
To create the sentiment banner I used 3 stamps sets. Best from Cheerful Sentiments, the Birthday comes from the Ham It Up set and the Ever is actually from the everything stamp that comes from the Friends Like You set that I just masked to stamp only Ever. And for the inside of the card, I used the Happy Birthday from the Foxy Sentiments Stamp set and the Friend from the Friendship set.

I ESPECIALLY love the lazy bunny. What a cute addition he makes. This card is so cute–a platypus? Adorable!
The llama is very cute, and the pig is great, but as a group these guys are very cool. It would be especially cool to send it to someone who has moved away and is missing his/her friends.
Awesome card! Love the critters and your pretty coloring! Blah Bunny is so cute, front and center!
Super cute!! Love all the animals. I seem to gravitate towards the llama. Great release.
