Hello!!! Laurie here to share a card combining stamps from the latest release with a stamp set from the past.  I enjoy doing this as it lets me give some of my older sets some love.  Don’t get me wrong, I could have made this entire project using just stamps and dies from this past release, they are all so fab, but I also wanted to showcase that new and old can be used together!

I picked one of the super cute bees from the new Build-A-Bee stamp set.  All these bees are so cute but what I love the most are all the faces included.  You can make these bees have so many expressions.  I coloured the bee using Copic Markers, die cut the cutie using the Co-ordinating Honey Cuts and set him/her aside to work on the rest of my card.

I cut a card panel down to 5.5 X 3.5 using regular white cardstock and used Broken China Distress Ink to blend the background.  I flicked some water to create some “bleach” spots.  I really like doing this on regular cardstock as the effect you get is quite a bit more intense than watercolour paper.

I stamped two of the lotus blossoms from the Lotus Blossom stamp set and coloured them VERY simply using only one colour of Copic marker and the colourless blender.

Because the outline of the bee image is quite a bit thicker than that of the lotus flower, I outlined the flowers using a black marker after they were coloured.  I did the same thing with the leaves which are from the Zen Floral stamp set and matching Honey Cuts.

I adhered all the elements to the ink blended card panel using a combination of foam adhesive and tape runner.  I also added that cute little dotted swirl detail behind the bee.

For the sentiment, I used the new Bee-You-tiful Honey Cuts.  I cut both the shadow image and the script dies from white cardstock. I blended more of the Broken China ink onto the script die cut and adhered them together.  To complete the sentiment, I used the word “positive” from the new Bee-YouTiful Sentiments stamp set.

I adhered the panel to an A2 card panel.  I added some black dash lines, but in retrospect, I should have left that part out, not sure I actually like it 🙂  I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the wings of the bee and all over the flowers.  And of course, I just had to add some of my favourite Clear Dew Drops.

Thank you for stopping in today!!  I’m having a blast with this latest release as well as revisiting some of the fabulous older stamps!!

See you next week!!!!!
